Terms of service
Effective date: July 3, 2026 · Written in plain language on purpose. Where these terms and marketing copy disagree, these terms win.
1. What these terms cover
These terms are an agreement between you and [Company legal name — placeholder] ("we", "us") covering the Vocelle macOS application, the iPhone application when it ships, and this website. By downloading or using Vocelle, you agree to them.
2. Your license
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use Vocelle on Apple devices you own or control. You may use the free tier indefinitely. A Pro subscription or Lifetime purchase extends the license to the paid features for as long as the subscription is active, or permanently for Lifetime.
You may not resell, sublicense, or redistribute the app, or attempt to extract and redistribute the licensed speech model outside of Vocelle. Reverse-engineering for interoperability where the law grants you that right is, of course, your right.
3. Plans and payment
- Free includes unlimited local dictation. It is not a trial and does not expire.
- Pro is $7.99/month or $69/year, and renews automatically until you cancel. Cancel any time; you keep Pro until the end of the period you paid for.
- Lifetime is a one-time $179 payment. It covers all Pro features on the Mac app permanently, all future updates to it, and the iPhone app when it ships. "Lifetime" means the lifetime of the product, not a subscription in disguise — there are no recurring charges.
Prices may change for new purchases; a change never affects a Lifetime license already bought or a subscription period already paid for. Purchases made through an app marketplace are also subject to that marketplace's terms.
4. Refunds
If you bought directly from us: tell us within 14 days of purchase and we'll refund you in full. We won't ask you to justify it. If you bought through an app marketplace, refunds follow that marketplace's process, which we don't control but will help you navigate.
5. The iPhone app
The iPhone app is in development and not yet available. Pro and Lifetime purchases include it when it ships. We don't promise a ship date, and buying now on the strength of the iPhone app alone is not something we encourage — buy for the Mac app that exists today.
6. Your content
Everything you dictate is yours. Your audio, transcripts, history, and dictionary live on your device and never reach us, so we claim no rights over any of it — there is nothing on our side to claim rights over. See the privacy policy for the full accounting.
7. Acceptable use
Use Vocelle lawfully. Don't use it to violate others' rights — for example, recording people where the law requires their consent. What you type with it is your responsibility, the same as what you type with a keyboard.
8. Updates and changes
We may update the app to fix bugs, improve transcription, and add features. We won't remove a paid feature you bought without a substantially equivalent replacement. If we ever discontinue Vocelle entirely, the app keeps working as-is on your machine — it doesn't depend on our servers to run.
9. Warranty disclaimer
Vocelle is provided "as is." Speech recognition is imperfect; transcripts can contain errors, and cleanup can occasionally fall back to a rougher result (that's the guardrail doing its job). Proofread anything where accuracy matters — dictated medical, legal, or financial text included. To the maximum extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim arising from Vocelle is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim (which, for free-tier users, is zero). We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Some jurisdictions don't allow some of these limitations; where that's you, they apply only as far as the law permits.
11. Termination
You can stop using Vocelle at any time; deleting the app and its local data is entirely in your hands. We may terminate a license for material breach of these terms — for example, redistribution of the app. Lifetime licenses are not revoked for anything short of that.
12. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we'll update the effective date at the top and note what changed. Material changes to a paid plan's substance will be announced before they take effect. Continued use after a change means acceptance.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [Jurisdiction — placeholder], excluding its conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction, unless the consumer-protection law where you live gives you a right to your local courts — in which case that right stands.
